Louis N. Schulze

1938 - 2020

Louis N. Schulze, age 81, passed away on Wednesday October 21, 2020 in his Lewes, DE home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on November 12, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Wallace and Margaret (Truitt) Schulze.

Lou grew up in Bala Cynwyd, PA and enlisted in the United States Air Force soon after high school. After his service, Lou married the love of his life, Marianne (Davis) Schulze on June 14, 1969, the day he would remember as one of the two best of his life. Together they raised a son, Louis, Jr., and built a home full of love.

Lou’s career saw him join a regional commercial property insurance company in an entry-level position and rise to become a Senior Vice President, helping the company grow into an international institution. His true joy in life was traveling the world “with his bride” and pestering waitresses across the globe. His retirement saw him move to his dream town of Lewes, spend many hours assisting in the renovation of the Lightship Overfalls, and travel to Florida to see his grandkids’ hockey games, swim meets, and musical theatre performances. His was a life well-lived.

In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by his parents-in-law; his beloved wife, Marianne; his brothers: Jim and Tom, and his brothers-in-law: Michael and Paul. Although Marianne passed far too soon, Lou cherished his 38 years with her and always thought himself the luckiest husband in the world. Lou was blessed with many loving friends and relatives. He leaves behind his son, Louis Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Rebekah; his adoring grandchildren: Annie and Teddy; his sister, Suzanne; his brother, Barney; his sisters and brothers-in law: Anne, Frances, Joan, Joe, John, Judy, Kay, Pat, and Tom; his countless loving cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and a granddog.
