The Overfalls Foundation has relied on the support of people, businesses, and various levels of government who gave money and services through various channels and programs like cash grants, capital campaigns, naming opportunities, purchasing a rivet, and event contributors/sponsors. to save the Overfalls. Monies raised through these initiatives have made the restoration possible. Without this financial support, the Lightship Overfalls would still be sitting in her muddy hole rusting away or worse!
Although the restoration phase is finished, including a new slip and beautifully landscaped grounds, the need for revenue continues. A ship sitting in salt water will require on-going attention at the slip plus removal to a shipyard dry-dock for periodic major maintenance to the hull below the water line.
