In October 2010, my tenure at the helm of the Overfalls Foundation comes to an end.The last seven years as a Board member, holder of various offices and a couple of terms as president have been exciting and rewarding. Exciting, in that the Foundation has succeeded beyond everybody’s wildest
dreams in saving our historic lightship and putting her in a setting worthy of her past and the crews who served aboard.Rewarding, in that I have had the privilege of working closely with a fine group of people who served as Board members and committee chairs, as well as in other key positions in the Foundation. That we were able to succeed is due to the hard work and dedication of this group and the tremendous support that we received from the local community and groups farther afield.
Now it is time for new leadership, soon Tracy Mulveny will take the helm. She comes to the task at an ideal time as the Foundation is transitioning from a fledgling organization that spent eleven years struggling to survive against impossible odds to one that is mature with a proven track record. For our members, supporters and even those who don’t yet know us, I ask you to give Tracy the support that I have received so the good work of the Foundation can continue.
